Early 2008 we started a little goats- and sheep’s farm with 5 (4F + 1M) goats and 5 (4F + 1M) sheep’s in Karantaba, 300 km interior.
The farmer receives a monthly salary and with the revenues of the sales of the goats and the sheep’s eventually more projects can be financed. This project is in cooperation with GROS-Halen (read more).
During our trip in February we went to Karantaba. It was a whole experience. In the morning we left at 5 o’clock to catch the first ferry and after 8 hours we were finally on the spot. We had been received with dance and music and a delicious meal. When we visited the stable, the veterinary surgeon was also present with his log book in which all details are mentioned clearly. At the moment we have 10 sheep’s (6M + 4F) and 8 (2M + 6F) goats. We donated one sheep to the family because of their good care. The other billy goats will be sold at the next Tobaskiparty, so that we already can recover a part of our investment.
After having spent a night with the local population, we left the next day early in the morning.
