Ellen had, in the past, her own taxi and bus company and in 2003 she had an older bus for 24 persons which were no longer to be used here so she shipped it to the Gambia. This bus has been used for a number of years to transport school children from Sifoe and environment, free of charge, to school while other passengers had to pay the normal price. From the proceeds the driver and his helpers were given their monthly salary, insurance and road tax could be paid, the maintenance could be paid only partly, for which we had to collect money in Europe. Unfortunately, the bus is worn up to the hair and we had to decide to take it away from driving.
We are looking for a number of small buses that the children can transport and provide a small income for the driver and his helpers.
